A Little Bit of March Madness


March came in like a lion with wild weather and a spike in the real estate market.  Now here we are in April and the weather is fantastic.  It's the perfect time to put your property on the market or to get out and about and find your new dream home.


Let's start with the numbers in Auburn.  Sixty two homes closed in March in Auburn.  That's double the amount closed in February.  It's a significant increase from 2018.

Twenty five new construction homes sold in March, a whopping 16 more homes than February.  Looking at the year after year numbers for March shows 2017 as the best year yet.  All other years are consistent with numbers within 4 homes of each other.

Now let's look at Opelika resale homes.  (Homes that are not new construction that have had an owner are called resale homes in my blog.)  March shows a slight decline from February 2019 sales and from March 2018 sales.

Does that ever happen in stats?  Maybe so.  In March 2019 there were 18 new construction homes to close.  In March 2018 there were 18 new construction homes to close.  Comparing 2019 February to March shows a slight decrease of 3 homes.
